Omega 8 Tune-Up
Omega 8s manufactured before approximately 6-1-04 can now benefit from new hard and software modifications, and Greg St. Regis' knowing and loving (midnight oil burning) tweaks that (among other bumps) greatly improve VCA envelope response–"SNAPPIFY" it–bringing MIDIMINI-like attack transients to the game and increased Moog filter gain. Additionally, new voice-board "5 dot microcontrollers" burning with fresh OM8 OS pride address and eliminate the annoying voice dropping and detuning (too many of us have suffered in enduring silence), as well as a modulation tracking bug. Kit form is available for those on a first name basis with their soldering irons, or one's Omega and be secreted to a charming tree-lined street in LAX-cosy El Segundo, as the mod/tweak-work is a 6.5 on a scale of 10 re. difficulty: the latter approach can include a full unit re-calibration–$50 extra; a very good idea for Omegas that have served extended tours of duty.
This Tune-Up includes the "STURDIFICATION" mod as well–if your Omega needs it–which enhances
voice board shock mounting and anchoring effectiveness. Truth be told: when any SE product comes our way it receives a complete look-see and knee-jerk neurotic upgrading to current specs. We don't know any other way to be...
