MSR's X-Model-Raw Demo
To plagarize much from my recent communiqué to studioelectronics@yahoogroups.com:

The X Model .mp3 is up and out of my hair :-) Truly a "trip to the moon on gossamer wings" it was... I trust will be 4u as well. Props to lovlee Slinki & the Mad Conjurer, chief architect of the "Single Bullet Theory" (WELCOME MR. KENNEDY TO DALLAS), the durable if naught else, Senior Senator from Pennsylvania, Arlen Spector, for the introduction.

When the "Mind Sweeper" patch kicks in after the long, held bass tone, the "Raw" becomes quite cooked with the SE-1X's "tuned chord" patches and multi-tracked & subsequently layered mono leads subjected to a few of my favorite things, i.e., VST and Peak™ Plug-Ins, sonicWORX™ majik and far too much attention to detail. A sort of "theory of everything... is beautiful" harmonic progression emerges accompanied, or should I say is accomplished, by the reorchestrated, reconstituted plaintive cry of my worried 2 month old (adjusted age) second born son Salvtore Raffaelle.

C.O.D.E. FILTERED THERIOT (Buratto/St. Regis/Catero/Levy)
It started with that anthemic wah-wah and freight train tremelo of Grecco's (solos and addl. rhythm sugar came years later, and were worth the wait–dude can play the guitar) circa sometime 2003; a bracing dose of his MODMAX pedaling; lyric and melody writing sessions with cool cat and co-designer of the CADIX Bank, Catero Colbert (no relation), whose dulcet tones, and brilliant bridge ideas grace; many tracks of S.E. synth magic–much played live; my daughter Camille's first recording session!; my son's Carlo and Salvi's essential commentary, and merriment; DP4 slicing stretching and dicing; earth-friendly Recycling; a little MSR riffin' and runnin'; ST. REGIS chestnuts (Ellis Hall you still have no equal) featuring durable def 'n dope old school beats and EIII sweetening by (Black) Jack Levy, inexorably progressing to Baron von Münchhausen necessities, missed deadlines, sleep seizures and ending up... heah. Yes, my friend S.E. too can rock. Therein lied the challenge: keeping pace with that da@# Wah und Trem! Should the synths take a back seat? NEBBER. Methinks we did give 'em a run–it was a pleasure El Grecco just trying nonetheless.

Listen 4: CADIX & THERIOT Bank patches; C.O.D.E.-filterboxed voices, vocoders, vocals–cheap mics and all; El Grecco guitars, which thanks to cross-mod and crushing quick auto-triggering input processing, with its Revolution #9 style board fuzz, roved implacably and warmly into unexpected yet welcome keys.

C.O.D.E 8: Hindi intro (filtered guitars & their noise/synth drone pulses, leads); pervasive Polyphonics; intro kicks; leads 1st chorus (and elsewhere); locked-to-clock L.F.O. theatrics; many melodic and manly basses b4 ride including 2nd verse subs; domineering Pulsar leads end of ride; Dre basses in Cm (cf. totally unrelated ending sequence); descending meaning of peace.
ATC-X QFS: that distorted party in the verses, single note pulsar leads in verses... more later.
SE-1X: 909 kicks, worm leads, basses 2nd chorus, meaty slides in guitar breakdown/solo, big bouncin' bold Cetera pick-rock-funk basses on final ride, warm basses under yet warmer chords.
Grecco Buratto: all of the decisively deft 6 string mashing–thought we was 'posed to kick it my dude?
Catero: "So high we are flying".
Ellis Hall: "Few Words..."–your "love light" will always shine my brother.

Omega8 External Inn / '01 NAMM Redux Demo (with ATC-X Quad & SE-1X in supporting roles)
Dearest Readers,

Having passed through a rather harrowing phase of my life as a father of 3, quite intact, thanks be to God (none to the promoters and witless believers of barbarous fictions), I can happily paraphrase, the rumors of my insignificance were greatly exaggerated. AND DON'T THESE OMEGA8 EXTERNAL INPUTS MUTATIONS SOUND TREMENDOUS?

Having the freedom to rework this track from the 2001 NAMM SHOWSTRAVAGANZA is one of the small favors The Eternal did for me just before Deliverence... if only my kick drum had been centered when I tracked it! Big favors include: Faith, Hope, and Charity; and the best close friends a guy could have. In that company I would include Fr. Austin & Fr. Craig among other notables at OLG... those fellas are lifesavers. Makes sense, what with their job description.

HOW 'BOUT THOSE TRACK HIGHLIGHTS CAREFUL READERS?


ATC-X Quad Filter System: Pusle edge bass; vocal bass; the bass booty glue.
Omega8: Orch and Piano sample processor and locked-to-clock mood shaper; "Murchie" and other essential bass accents; "L6" changes near end; Classic Atc Lead; Pulsar lead; molto controller draw/massive patch change vassal (didn't crash once); wet insect (think non-indigenous invader types) strength solo; providential pads: just listen to that 1:24 miracle; vocal filter color care of EMU E4X.
SE-1X: The lead junkie, the odd bass note, a smattering of tuned chords: the meditative one at the end is fed through a vintage Dynachord CLS 222... "If you get into town here come on in..."

Sequoia and RME bring the clarity and sensitivity again.

MSR's Winter NAMM '02/'06 Omega8, THERIOT Bank, ATC-X, and SE-1X Demo

Africa has returned. I will explain somewhat below; and yes those are my kid's voices;-)

ATC-X Quad Filter System: Dependable bassline sonics and occasional higher octave sensibilities. Louder in the "C2s" mix: I never have to hunt for grease in this box, it oozes out on its own.
1st Omega8: My personal Omega infused with the outstanding THERIOT bank features locked-to-clock sounding bass l.f.o. magic in one of the verses, string section doubles and accents: the mandolin flavored patch in the ride being my favorite–wait, no, the Gospel culmination (I had to have church up in here C. Von!) MIDI-synched changes leading to one of many faux terminations, fall just below those percussive and still flowing African flutes in the homage to those immortal "Abbey Road" trades from "The End". I even broke down and deployed the "T&B Edition" Omega multitimbraly for a nukey, clustered funk-heat, where the call-to-prayer (we all know those arabic scales can do some damage) pitch needed fevering. Oh yeah, the "Jaco" mini-solo steps out and on the SE-1X faux whammy bar divebomb nicely.
2nd Omega8: "Tim & Bob Edition" with discrete OpAmps handling most of the polyphony, and critical bass & lead testifying. The ultra dense spray/ephinany chord that epplodes the ride just out of the bridge; the "Crystal Mansion" horn-like turnarounds; the Oud/kyoto-inspired plucking; the ATC-1ish lead shaping the "Zawinul" mood that receives its Benedictus (Salut) from my African (I know rather generic, but I have somehow pruned his particular branch of the motherland) brother who expressed this impassioned impression to me after at least 3 listenings in '02, at our NAMM booth in Hall A (Word.); the incredible, indelible 8-voice unison bass thumping in the near final tag–THOSE ARE JUST SOME OF MY FAVORITE THANGS! The OPAmps radicaly improve stereo imaging and overall freq. response... I need that mod. for mine!
SE-1X: The smoovest Leads, the odd bass, glassy gorgeously garish tuned chords in the bridge, and deep bed sounds underneath the multiple 6 minute mark wind-downs.

MSR's Winter NAMM '04/'05 ATC-X, Omega and SE-1X Demo
Detail Folks,

Last year's Winter NAMM demo–this years "cut"; every bit as satisfying as a quiet Saturday at the barbershop with your #1 son. My daughter (not pictured) was there as well rolling her eyes at me much of the time. Back to the music...
ATC-X: BIG BASS. That should be enough, but it also shares lead support and at least two addictive crunch flavors–the hot chocolate fuzz at the end is worth the listen alone.
Omega: chords–gorgeous soul refreshing shimmers and washes; arresting stabs, lead and bass doubles and bubbles; chief victim of my "real-time controller orientalism": you know, that painting sound on grains of rice sort of thing where hours pass in mere beats of a bar; midi synced L.F.O. ear candy; Daddy's "synth from the vault" cadenza–thanks you Salvi (cool son#2) for the MC love.
SE-1X: That Zawinul lead patch... had to use it to excess; leetle snares and one very big hashy kick... what else... yeah, those tuned overdriven crowning chords near the end.

p.s. That pesky high whine is the not so loving lovechild of DP and my M-box–so I didn't have that shielded USB cable handy when I was in the mood to track–and has nada to do with S.E. synths or any of its affiliates.

Christoph Richter's SE-1X Demo
I recorded this litle DEMO in about 2 hours on my PC. I wanted to point out the genuine sound of the SE-1X so i decided not to use any Efx - there are no EQs, no Dynamic -, Modulation - or Room Efx on the single tracks. I have considered this as the best and most honest way to show the pure sound of the SE-1X!

Each sound of the SE-1X was recorded entirely MONO (!) directly to my M-Audo Delta 24/96 audio interface. I have used Acid as sequencing programm (this proofs that i didn`t do any Midi "cheating" - my Acid- version, by sonic foundry isn`t capable of Midi!), just tweaking and turning these knobs while playing :-)!!

All i have done was using a waves plugin (L1- master limiter) to gain volume on the final stereo track - thats it! ...this is what came to my mind when i played along the sampled loop at the beginning of the song... I hope you will like this one!

MSR's Analogia Project
Many samples, ONE Analog love.

The SE-1X handles the basses (for the most part: there are a few tuned chords and leads thrown in just for the funk of it!); the ATC-X leads–excepting the Sonny Rollins inspired Obie Rack solo (at end) that bounces against the haunting Maurice Ravel lift (taking itself far too seriously), and the Omega 8 rounds out the affair with gorgeous synth polyphony over-top an ATC-X filtered William Holden–yeah the rugged Hollywood back-in the-day actor–album snippet. Viva la "Strawbs" Vinyl! Mmmm mmmm!!

MSR's Winter NAMM '03 Empyreal, ATC-X, SE-1X Demo
S.E. People,

Yep. 32 discrete filters bounce this fully loved & loaded Omega8. It's that kinda party. You might notice it... well all over, cunningly fashioning ethereal pads, punches, backstabs, "Wurly" wonders, synced L.F.O.s, drunken C.F.O.s (checking to see if you were paying attention), determined baby cries, 2 & 4 voice basses, and the sweet swells and the bells.

Crunches, tuned chords, smoove leads, and main bass (until the funkout in D minor, where the SE-1X shoulders those rubbery chores), courtesy of the ATC-X. I like them both sooo much for bass... Mmmm, good thing I OWN 'em, the one and the other; never have to take sides in that "which one's better for basslines" conflict. Additional leads and many lovely unrecallables [sic]: SE-1X. I'm starting to feel this DP3 thing... (although I might have overdone the MasterWorks™ "Acoustic Punch" Compression Plugin a bit) really i am Drew!

p.s. There is a bit of doubling of the bass regions issuing forth from the SE-1X, here and there, prior to the D minor, as well; not to be confused, however, with the Omega8's periodic bassline "blasts".

- Main voice (Radio, Owww): Goofy, but oddly compelling L.A. (A.M. radio) preacher
- "Yeah": You'll have to ask Elmer B.… or Martin Milner
